Computer Lab

The Bethany School Computer Lab is a state of the art classroom. The lab is always up-to-date with new Apple Macintosh computers purchased every three years. Our goal is for students to become comfortable and at ease using technology to enhance all aspects of their lives. Skills and concepts that students learn in the lab can be used in academic classes or at home no matter which computer system is being used. Mr. Bruce collaborates with teachers across the disciplines to make lessons pertinent and exciting. Mr. Bruce is very passionate about Apple and his enthusiasm spills over into the classroom.

By the eighth grade year students will have experience using the following software or hardware systems:

Office Applications: Word processing, Page layout, Presentations, Spreadsheets
Keyboarding
Website design and HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language)
Mutimedia software: video and photo editing, music creation, animation
Digital camera, Camcorder, scanner

Kindergarten through 3rd grade uses Techworks which are activities from “Teacher Created Material”. 4th, 5th and 6th uses activities from Glencoes text book Computer Connections.

Kindergarten: basic computer skills, TechWorks activities, Mother's Day Coolkbook

1st grade: math cd’s and TechWorks activities

2nd grade: “Typin's Cool” typing program

3rd grade: Ten Thumbs Typing Tutor and Sponge Bob Teaches typing

4th grade: Bird Newsletter Project, a collaboration between classroom and lab, and part of Cornell University's Classroom Feeder Watch program

5th grade: T-shirt Logo Design for physical education class; designing business cards

6th grade: Character Counts project: Charter Web, Mythology Acrostic

7th grade: iLife programs: Garage Band, iDVD, iMovie and iWeb. Mythology Animated movie , website design and adding student poems to a scanned art project.

8th grade: iLife programs: Garage Band, iDVD, iMovie and iWeb. Christian Ed. Animated Movie, website design and digital yearbook.
