Bethany School Financial Aid

Mission Statement
Bethany School believes in supporting the realization of our institutional mission through the development and implementation of a comprehensive financial aid program.  We strive to maintain a student community which is representative of the cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of the real world, while providing a program of academic excellence with students of strong academic potential and good character.  Financial aid will be considered for mission appropriate families who demonstrate a need for tuition assistance.

Policy
While the availability of school resources, the number of qualified applicants, and overall budgetary constraints influence tuition assistance decisions, Bethany School is committed to making grants available to qualified applicants to the best of our ability. In an effort to make the process fair to all, the following policies are  considered when making award decisions:

  • Current students must not be in arrears for any obligations to Bethany School.
  • New students must have on file an Application for Admission to Bethany School and have been offered a contract for the upcoming school year to be considered for aid.
  • No applications will be considered by Bethany School until all tax forms and information have been received and processed through FAST.
  • Both parents are expected to contribute to tuition. If a parent chooses not to work, an annual income will be imputed for the non-working parent.
  • In the case of divorce or separation, Bethany School requires both parents to file an application for tuition assistance. Bethany School is not bound by any divorce agreement specifying a parent’s responsibility for educational expenses.
  • In cases where other family members, e.g. stepparents or grandparents, live in the primary household, an adjustment will be made in the allowable living expenses, such as housing, utilities, etc.
  • Bethany School firmly believes that the primary responsibility for financing a student’s education rests with the family and that it is not the school’s responsibility to support a family’s lifestyle choices. Secondary home ownership, club memberships, expensive car leases/purchases, camps, and expensive vacations are considered elective expenses.

Process
Bethany School uses an online system called FAST, powered by ISM (Independent School Management), to evaluate an applicant family’s need for financial assistance.

  1. Click on the FAST link below. It takes you to the actual online tuition assistance application. You will need to complete the entire application form and pay the $36.00 fee to FAST for your application to be processed by ISM and delivered electronically to Bethany School.  Instructions may be downloaded directly from the application site by clicking the link. These instructions outline the information you will need to gather in order to complete the application as efficiently and accurately as possible. Once you have all of your materials, the application should take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. As you are completing the online application, each field will provide you with the contact information you need if you have any questions. You may begin applying for tuition assistance after January 1st.

  2. All tax returns and forms requested by FAST must be received before your application can be considered by Bethany School. It is important that you complete the online application and send your tax forms to FAST by March 15.
Mail your tax returns directly to FAST:

Deadlines
To be considered in the initial allocation of financial assistance, the online application must be completed and your tax forms received by March 15. You may apply for assistance beyond that date, but the tuition assistance budget may be exhausted after the first allocation of awards. It is possible that additional funds will be available beyond that date; however, awards will be considered only as long as funds exist.
