Academics Overview
Bethany School is committed to providing to students at every grade level an academic environment in which they can learn and grow to their potential, while developing a love of learning. To this end, the focus of the educational program is on:
the development of sound basic skills;
the use of learning experiences which develop a positive self-concept within students; and
the provision of educational activities and experiences which allow each student to achieve academic excellence as his/her own ability will allow
At Bethany each student is expected to achieve at a level consistent with his/her God-given ability. There is opportunity for instruction on an individual basis, in small groups and in larger groups. A wide variety of curricular materials is employed to meet the needs of individual students. A continual effort is made to establish independence in learning and to instill a joy of learning which will serve a student throughout his/her life.
Bethany School is divided into three organizational units:
Lower School: grades K - 3
Middle School: grades 4 - 6
Upper School: grades 7 - 8
Kindergarten and first grade classes are self contained.
Team teaching occurs in second through sixth grade classes. Seventh and eighth graders change classes for each forty five minute period, much like a junior high school.
